Группа образовалась в 2004 году из бывших участников Shattered Realm (первый вокалист группы), Redline и еще нескольких коллективов Нью-Джерси и Нью-Йорка. В своей музыке они смешали хорошую долю метала с хардкором. На счету группы первый дебютный альбом 2008 года War Is All I Know, который вышел на Filled With Hate Records.

I am sorry to say that Suffer the Living is no more. Suffer the Living was more than a band to me. It was an opportunity to turn my thoughts and musical appeals into a tangible reality in the company of my closest friends. That friendship is what the band was forged on, and what made it so special to us. Along the way we got lost in the wake of scheduling difficulties, lineup changes, personal new life challenges, egos, tempers, life threatening diseases, injuries, being blacklisted from clubs we never even came near, you name it. It happened. It simply shook the foundation of the band in such a way that irreparable cracks were created and ultimately led to us disbanding. We spent 5 years recording 2 demos, 1 full length, and maybe playing about 40 shows. Not an excellent tenure for a band of our chemical makeup. But it was fun. That's what made it all worth it. It became poisoned. No one is fully aware how, because we all have different varied opinions on what happened, but it did undeniably. I knowI speak for all those who were in the band when I say, I am sad to see it go. But gone it is.
